Breif Profile

Dr. Alla Pecheniuk is the Chairperson of the NGO "Institute of Socio-Economic Regional Studies", Associate Professor of the State University in Podillia, Ukraine. She is PhD (Economic Sciences) and Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Policy & Governance and the Grassroots Journal of Natural Resources. She is an expert at various levels of management at national and local levels. She is also the Member of the Coordinating Council of the Pilot Project (Program of USAID and the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine "Decentralization gives better results and efficiency" DOBRE). Dr. Alla is an expert of the National Research Fund of Ukraine, and a Member of the Coordination Council of Public Activists under the Mayor of Kamianets-Podilskyi. She is the Member of the Scientific-Expert Working Group for the development of recommendations for the preparation of the "Strategy for the development of the Kamianets-Podilskyi urban territorial community during the war period". She implements her research into practice. Her areas of focus included economic assessment of historical and cultural heritage, intangible assets of tourism, social entrepreneurship, etc. Her practical recommendations are used in the activities of the Kamianets-Podilskyi urban territorial community, by the the National Nature Park "Podilskyi Tovtry", by the National Historical and Architectural Reserve "Kamianets", and so on. Her scientific activities also focus on cooperation with international institutions. Last but not least, she is open to new knowledge from external sources that she shares with her students.

Summary:

This research is to find out and verify the sustainable, innovative and breakthrough solutions and to promote their dissemination in the context of food security and sustainable development of Ukraine, especially those that host internally displaced persons. Goal includes the social involvement of community residents and internally displaced persons and ensuring food security of citizens. In the context of the research, it is planned to develop and study solutions at all stages of the movement of agricultural products to the consumer: cultivation, transportation, processing, sale/distribution, consumption/waste; development of optimal organizational relationships between producers and consumers of products. An important dimension belongs to the development of international contacts, the study and exchange of scientific experiences, drawing the attention of the international scientific community to the problems and challenges provoked by the war in Ukraine.

Main Objectives of Project:

• Adjustment of community development strategies taking into account military challenges;
• Ensuring food security in regions that receive internally displaced persons;
• Promotion of self-employment of the population and reduction of unemployment;
• Broad international advocacy of food security issues in the context of military challenges in Ukraine.

Main Activities of Project:

• Sociological research in communities that receive internally displaced persons for the purpose of identifying potential conflicts and readiness for self-sufficiency in food products or work in the agricultural sector of the economy;
• Assessment of community needs for growing and harvesting products
• Assessment of educational needs of the community regarding cultivation, harvesting and long-term storage of agricultural products
• Preparation of an analytical report with specific proposals for authorities and local self-government
• Preparation of a relevant article for a magazine;
• Preparation of a lecture on the relevant issue
• Mass or political advocacy (building partnerships with other organizations or scientists working on similar tasks, formation of an expert environment, participation in working groups, sectoral meetings, conferences, publication activity in international and specialized scientific journals, etc.
• Writing blogs/news (publishing relevant news on the website of The Grassroots Institute, university, local government, etc.).
• Publication in social networks (distribution of information about the results of activity in social networks: LinkedIn/Facebook)
• The effect of visibility (positioning yourself with the Global Leadership program, broad promotion of scientific research).
